Families are essential partners in every child’s success. When schools and families work together, students thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally. Our Family Resource Center connects families with services and support to meet everyday needs, helping students come to school ready to learn and grow.

Attendance Impacts Achievement

Attendance matters! Daily attendance is important because every day matters for every child. Students with regular school attendance are more likely to succeed. Everyone can help make this happen — schools, families, and community members. Please have your child at school every day and on time.

Please note that if a student misses 3 consecutive days, they will need a note from the doctor.

• At 3 days missed, the teacher will call home, and we will do an attendance assessment.
• After 5 days missed, a truancy letter will be sent home.
• At 7 days missed, we will do an attendance plan.
• At 10 days missed, it will be reported to the Truancy Compliance Officer.

If a student has more than 3 unexcused absences or tardies, they will not be able to participate in quarterly incentive events. Missing school and/or excessive tardies will also cause a student to forfeit the chance to participate in school sports and organizations, including band, chorus, and theater.

Immunizations

An updated Tennessee Immunization Certificate with proof of additional immunizations is required when entering Seventh Grade. Your student will be receiving a letter if the school does not have this on file. If the student has the required Tdap immunization, please send documentation of this to school with them ASAP. If they do not, immunizations are available from your child’s doctor. They may also be available through the Metro Public Health Department if your child has TennCare, no insurance or insurance that does not pay for vaccines.
